2024 Texas Army Independence Day Celebration (CORE – QUALIFIER)

Thursday, February 29, 2024 - Sunday, March 3, 2024
at George Ranch Historical Park in Richmond, TX

This year because the Washington on the Brazos Texas Independence Day celebration cannot be held due to construction at the park, the Texas Army proposes to celebrate Independence Day at the George Ranch Historical Park. If approved by the George Ranch Historical Park we expect the following activities.

Bring Items needed to fulfill the following outline

Thursday (February 29, 2024)

  • Camp Set up at the 1830’s Log Cabin

Friday (March 01, 2024 / 1836)

  • Assist Mr. Jones in his daily routine
  • Provide background information / reenactment as to the gathering where the Texas Independence document was presented and signed.
    • Camp life demonstrations
    • Cooking demonstrations
    • Firearms and Canon demonstrations
    • Reading the Texas Declaration of Independence
  • Salute at 12:00 pm (honor the defenders of the Alamo and those who would sign the Texas Declaration of Independence)
    • 1st Volley in honor of those who are valiantly defending the Alamo
    • 2nd Volley in honor of those who are putting together the 1st Texas Army
    • 3rd Volley in honor of those who signed the Texas Declaration of Independence
  • Salute at 1:00 pm (honor the General of the Texas Army and the losses suffered at the Alamo and Goliad)
    • 1st Volley in honor of Sam Houston
    • 2nd Volley in honor of the Alamo
    • 3rd Volley in honor of Goliad
  • Salute at 2:00 pm (honor the Battle of San Jacinto and the subsequent formation of the Republic of Texas)
    • 1st Volley in honor of the Republic of Texas
    • 2nd Volley in honor of the men who would win independence at the Battle of San Jacinto
    • 3rd Volley in honor of the Battle of San Jacinto and the consequences of that Battle

Saturday (March 02, 2024 / 1836)

  • Assist Mr. Jones in his daily routine
  • Provide background information / reenactment as to the gathering where the Texas Independence document was presented and signed.

Sunday (March 03, 2024) – Break camp

 WEAPON & CARTRIDGE INSPECTIONS WILL BE CONDUCTED PRIOR TO PARTICIPATION IN ANY REENACTMENTS. WEAPONS MUST BE CLEAN, AND CARTRIDGES MUST BE FREE OF ANY METALS.
